PROCESS OF PROCEDURE FOR IMPORTING FABRIC TO VIETNAM

Tam Logistics has experiences with working on import fabric shipments from China to Vietnam, we would like to share with you about procedure of importing garment into Vietnam for your reference as below:

First of all, it’s a good new for those interested in importing fabric into Vietnam because this commodity is not on the list of not allowed to import into Vietnam, this also not required import license or any kind of import permit, it means garment is considered as general cargo.

Documents applied for import custom procedure

Documents are following as below:

  •  PO
  •  Invoice
  •  Packing List
  •  Bill of Lading
  •  C/O (form E for China)

However, we must take note that this item has to process the Formaldehyde testing at Quality Control Offices such as Vinacontrol, Vietnamcontrol,…

Choose the right name of garment on customs declaration

Those who import garment at the first time normally face with many questions from custom official, thus we should get full details of manufacture to avoid any problems while doing import customs declaration. What we need to ask manufacture?   

  • Commodity
  • Material composition: % wood, % poly, ….
  • Technology by: weaving, knitting or nonwovens
  • Use for: making clothes, curtain or cleaning material ….
  • Dimension of garment: length, width, gross weight..

IMPORT DUTY/TAX, HS CODE, C/O- IMPORT CUSTOM PROCEDURE

There are various type of fabric with different HS code, for example wool (95% wool & 5% polyester) with HS code 51121100  import tax is 12% VAT 10%, fabric with polyester 100% HS code 54023300  import tax is 3% VAT 10%, woven fabric from cotton 100% or silk with HS 58061020, 58061010 import tax is 12% VAT 10%.

Most of fabric is imported from China, import tax will be 0% once we provide C/O form E, don’t forget to submit the C/O to get free or lower tax. Fabric from other countries will be applied different form for C/O.
